Glimepiride Tablets IP – Uzipride-1 is a member of the “sulfonylureas” class of anti-diabetics, which are used to decrease elevated blood sugar levels in Type 2 diabetes mellitus (non-insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus – NIDDM). If the body does not create enough insulin or if the insulin that is produced does not function as it should, type 2 diabetes may develop. Particularly after meals, insulin is a hormone that aids in lowering blood sugar levels.
This medication contains glimepiride, which operates on beta cells, which are insulin-secreting in the pancreas. It opens calcium channels in cells, allowing insulin to leave the cell. This insulin subsequently causes every cell in the body to absorb and use glucose, bringing down elevated blood glucose levels. It shields against type 2 diabetic symptoms as a result.
The level of insulin produced by your body rises when you take glimepiride tablets (in the pancreas). Your blood glucose level is then decreased by insulin. Typically, it is given once a day. You should continue taking it for the whole amount of time recommended.
To effectively manage diabetes, blood glucose levels must be reduced. If you can keep the level under control, you will lessen your chance of developing any of the significant complications of diabetes, including kidney damage, eye damage, nerve damage, and amputation. You can lead a regular, healthy life if you take this medication regularly and follow a good diet and exercise routine.
Glimepiride Tablet is a prescription medication that needs to be taken as directed by your doctor. If any negative effects start to appear and last for a while, stop taking the tablet and call your doctor. The drug’s typical adverse effects include the following:
If you are recovering from an injury, have recently undergone surgery, have a fever infection, or are experiencing other forms of stress before taking glimepiride tablets, let your doctor know. It may be necessary to temporarily modify your care.
Before taking the tablet, talk to your doctor if you have a serious kidney or liver condition, are breastfeeding, or are pregnant. If you have a glucose 6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) deficiency or glimepiride or sulpha medication allergy, you should not use glimepiride tablets.
Before taking this medication, a patient with heart problems should visit a doctor as it may make their situation worse. It should not be taken along with oral contraceptives since it may raise blood sugar levels.
Glimepiride tablets shouldn’t be taken unless a doctor has recommended them. Always take the medication exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Depending on your medical condition, your doctor will advise you on how frequently to take your medications. With a glass of water, swallow the tablet.
